Donation: Sea Shepherd and ALF Prisoners

Back in January 2018 Nueva Etica’s – Inquebrantable was released on vinyl. I wanted to release something, people can decide where their money goes, so two different covers were made. One is dedicated to all the people who are fighting on the seas for Sea Shepherd and the other one, tho Animal Liberation Front activists in prison.

Now it is time announce how much money I was able to donate. Let’s start with Sea Shepherd. Due to corporate benefits from the company I am working for I got thrice as much money. That means 1/3 is from the money I got from the orders and 2/3 on top from my company. Because I can not disclose more information about this benefit programm, all I can say, overall over 2000$ were donated to Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.

For the Animal Liberation Front, I decided to not only donate to Walter Bond, but also to a few other prisoners who gave up their freedom in the name of the ALF. That said I donated 250$ to the following people:

  • Walter Bond
  • Sven Van Hasselt
  • Marte Marius Manson
  • Nicole Kissane

Walter is serving 12 years and 4 months (until 4-14-2021) for the “ALF Lonewolf” arsons of the sheepskin factory in Denver, Colorado, the Tandy Leather Factory in Salt Lake City, Utah, and the Tiburon restaurant (which sold foie gras) in Sandy, Utah. Walter was also charged and convicted under the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act.

In January 2018, Sven was sentenced to five years in prison for “conspiracy to blackmail,” in relation to the campaign to close down the notorious animal testing lab Huntingdon Life Sciences (recently rebranded as Envigo). HLS is Europe’s largest animal testing laboratory and is the most notorious and protested lab in history. The UK government has gone to extraordinary lengths to stop people protesting against HLS, with increasing targeting and repression of campaigners.

Marte is serving 21 years and 10 months (until 09-18-2027) for his involvement in an ELF arson at a University building carrying out genetically modified crop tests. Marius also pleaded guilty to conspiring to carry out ELF actions and admitted involvement in 12 other ELF actions.

Nicole was arrested along with Joseph Buddenberg on July 24, 2015, and federally indicted for Conspiracy to Violate the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act for conspiring to release thousands of animals from fur farms and to destroy breeding records in Idaho, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. The indictment also alleges that she caused economic damage to various retail and distribution businesses and individuals associated with the fur industry. On February 16, 2017, her non-cooperating plea agreement was accepted by the judge, and she was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison (until 07-21-2018) and 3 years of supervised release.

It is fundamental for all of us to show support for those who are currently in prison. Similar as we want to liberate animals who are kept in cages for no real reason, we need to stand up for liberator of many non-human animals all around the world.
